Expect a Flavorful Strawberry Production

Athena

It’s Market News time! To stay updated on all things related to the produce industry, continue reading:

STRAWBERRIES: We have received stronger volumes than expected the past few weeks. Although we continue to downtrend, the strong crop load, improved fruit size and favorable weather that we are expecting next week, we expect another favorable production week.

GRAPES: Prices are low; domestic stocks are plentiful. Quality is very good: fruit is firm, yet juicy with sweet flavor.

AVOCADOS: Prices are high; supplies are tight. Production in California is coming to an end this week. Peru arrivals are declining but should have supplies into October. Harvest is slowing down due to rainy weather and holidays in Mexico.

LIMES: The market is level; new crop volume is rising. Quality has improved: incidences of stylar, oil spotting, and scarring are minimal.

BRUSSELS SPROUTS: Supplies look to be increasing over the next 2-3 weeks. Expect to see slightly softer open markets FOBs on the 25lb bulk pack. Quality is good with some occasional insect damage noted.
